RAF Multiboxing Strategy

Today I started a new multiboxing team, and I was thinking about how best to handle RAF (Recruit a Friend). I’ve come up with a couple of strategies for you to consider if you’re thinking about starting your own multiboxing team and are understandably a little confused. This is targeted at multiboxers that are thinking about teams of 3 or more characters, rather then dualboxers which are only recruiting a single friend account from their main account.
The Bonuses of RAF (Recruit-A-Friend)
- 300% experience while partying together
- Summon a RAF’d character to you every 30 mins
- every 3 levels you get on a recruited account can be granted to a character of a similar or lower level on the veteran account
- Free game time and a zhevra mount for the accounts that refer friends
Strategy #1 – RAF Accounts from a Single Account
With this strategy you take your main world of warcraft account, that’s probably decked out in 80s, and recruit 4 other accounts. All of these accounts are now tied to your main account.
Advantages
- All these accounts may be trial accounts until you’re ready to upgrade them
- You’ll be able to grant a lot of levels to characters on your main account
Disadvantages
- Only 1 character can be summoned every 30 minutes
Strategy #2 – Recruit each RAF account from the previous one
With this strategy you recruit an account from your main account, then recruit another account from the previously recruited account, creating a chain.
Advantages
- Each account can summon another account every 30 minutes
- 4 accounts get a free month of game time and after the second month of paid subscription on each account, 4 also have zhevra mounts
Disadvantages
- You have to upgrade each account from a trial before you can recruit the next account in the chain. This means more cash up front
My advice is if you’re certain you’re going to stick with your multiboxing team and you’re going to love it, follow the second strategy and lay down the cash for the copies of wow at the get go. If you want to give it more of a test, follow the first strategy and use trial accounts instead.
If you need to buy multiple copies of wow you have a number of options open to you. First, you can use the direct online upgrade on battle.net for each account. When I did this in the past account management didn’t like me using the same credit card for multiple account upgrades and blocked it for a day or two after the second upgrade. You can also buy copies of WoW from the Blizzard Store, in-store, or even from a CD-Key selling website like Offgamers or Shattered Crystal. Personally I prefer Offgamers.com for their near instant delivery (after an initial verification) and their lower then retail prices.
